japanese bamboo charcoal
Product Description
It is made from bamboo plants four years old or older. The best charcoal is prepared by highly skilled Japanese craftsmen and then burned in an oxygen-starved kiln at temperatures over 800°.
Bamboo has extraordinary microstructure and it becomes highly absorptive capacity after carbonization. A piece placed in a water pitcher will absorb impurities and purify the water for 2 months. In addition, naturally occurring minerals in the charcoal (iron, potassium and zinc) are released in to the water making it much milder in taste.
Charcoal should be prewashed and boiled for 3 min before using. A 2” piece in a ½ liter of water will purify the water for 2 months.
Bamboo can also be used to purify the air (bathroom refrigerators, cars, litter boxes), to cook rice in water, or to take a bath.
